Hi my name is Ashlyn! I am a Colorado Native and recent to Salt Lake City, Utah. I work in Finance at Goldman Sachs out here and have loved getting to be somewhere new. I love to travel, read, make fun cocktails, listen to music and more. My love of reading was a huge factor in why I started Cheers and Chapters. I used to spend days and days reading when I was in elementary school whether it was Magic Treehouse or Nancy Drew. I started the Harry Potter series in 2nd grade, that's how obsessed I was. I fell in and out of slumps until I was a freshman in high school when I read almost 60 books. I was so dedicated to reading great books that I would use the flashlight on my phone to read while riding in carpool home from dance. However, despite this love, I had found myself in a slump since my freshmen year of college that I couldn't get out of despite a to-be-read list that was overwhelming. After getting sent home early from my study abroad trip and coming home to lockdowns, in an attempt to curb my screen time I decided to start chipping away at my growing stacks on and off my bookshelves. I read so frequently that my family started to joke that I didn't do anything else. They were partially correct, but I was really loving the stories I was reading. It also felt so good to get into something I loved, even if it I cried frequently in public while reading.
I frequently get asked for suggestions on what to read and for a long time I had what I call the Book Bible, which was a long running document that I frequently shared with people. The Book Bible had a multitude of recommendations separated diligently by genre, audiobook, film adaptation and my own personal distinctions. The more people I shared it with, the more I started thinking I should start a blog. I love reading young adult fantasy, biographies, memoirs and new adult so I wanted to make something that I myself would want to read. With that authenticity I wanted to continue to pursue this endeavor and I could not be more excited that you have chosen to join me on this journey. |
